BeGREEN D3.1 presents the strategies and functionalities that may be deployed at radio access network (RAN) targeting energy efficiency enhancements to B5G systems.
The document provides BeGREEN proposed developments, enhancements, and optimisation strategies to reduce power consumption of RAN, including the analysis of related State-of-the-Art. This covers discussions on virtualised RAN architecture (ARM based, x86 based, or using GPUs), O-RAN based optimisation of Radio Unit (RU) operations, Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC) strategies, and Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) and relay-assisted scenarios, all targeting energy efficiency enhancement of the radio access.
