BeGREEN Final White Paper is released!

The BeGREEN project is pleased to announce the release of its final White Paper, presenting the project’s key technical results, insights, and forward-looking perspectives on energy-efficient and intelligent Radio Access Networks (RAN) for B5G and 6G systems. Developed through the collaborative efforts of the consortium, the White Paper consolidates the outcomes of the project’s research and innovation activities, including architectural design, AI-driven optimisation, enabling technologies such as RIS, relays and ISAC, and hardware-aware implementations across O-RAN environments. It provides a comprehensive overview of how energy efficiency can be embedded as a core design principle in future mobile networks.

The White Paper highlights the BeGREEN Intelligence Plane as a central innovation, demonstrating how cross-domain AI/ML-driven control can enable significant energy savings while maintaining network performance. It also presents validation results from the project’s proof-of-concept activities, showing system-level energy reductions of up to 20–35%, alongside key lessons learnt and recommendations for future research, standardisation, and industrial adoption. The document is now publicly available and aims to support stakeholders across academia, industry, and policy in advancing sustainable and intelligent 6G networks.
